As was noted in the overview page, Carl taught several art classes at the White Rock Senior Centre. He took this assignment very seriously, preparing colour charts and perspective demonstrations. This still life, although it certainly derives from one of his nearly abstract "scribbles", is also a good demonstration of a variety of textures and shading techniques (although I have always thought that the central beet is floating, even given the slightly abstract perspective of the tray).
