Boats are certainly a favorite subject. The original drawing for this unfinished print could have been made in a number of places around the Vancouver waterfront in the timeframe of this print, but in the intervening years commercial fishery has been almost wiped out.

Carl only had access to etching materials and a press when he took a course at the Vancouver School of Art around 1969.
